East Falls, population 10,099 is found right between Manayunk and North Philadelphia, near the Roosevelt Avenue exit from the Schuylkill Expressway. Similar in its charming feel to the nearby old Germantown districts, East Falls offers another community full of attractions and places to just relax. This area is much denser than the further out suburbs however, and the terrain of the area includes steep slopes leading down to the river. Germantown is the gateway to the northwestern part of Philadelphia, east of Fairmount Park. One of Philadelphia's oldest settlements, it was originally settled by German immigrants attracted to Philadelphia by William Penn's promises of religious tolerance.
